Let me introduce myself...

My name is Simon Atkinson and I’m a landscape photographer originally from Yorkshire in the UK. I was born and raised there, however I now currently live in the North of Scotland, a landscape photographers paradise. My journey into photography began in 2008 when I was at university but I only began to take it more seriously in 2009 after dropping out of university and moving back home to Yorkshire. I’m completely self-taught and spent my spare time reading books and magazines, watching Youtube videos and just spending time visiting the websites of other photographers and studying their work. I still do all of those things today, the learning never stops….

I’ve had success in various competitions, been featured in numerous magazines and newspapers and even had a number of images projected onto the side of the National Theatre in London. For me though, none of that matters, it was simply a by-product of my work, what really matters to me is when I realise I’ve improved my craft, whether it be my photographic technique in the field or my post-processing methods thus allowing me to elevate my photography to a new level.

Thank you for stopping by and taking the time to browse my website.

I am sure the next step will be the electronic image, and I hope I shall live to see it. I trust that the creative eye will continue to function, whatever technological innovations may develop.
